On a track where Ferrari has a pace advantage, with a massive opportunity for big points, the FIA has decided it’s okay to give a 10 place grid penalty to Sainz for suffering damage because of a botched track. So dumb!

@jonathan this reminds me of Guenther's book passage how Haas once got their freight stuck somewhere on the trip back from Australia. I think it was Australia. And the parts were late arriving to the next track so they couldn't run full practice. They asked for extension and other teams screamed that it should not be granted, I think it was someone on alfa romeo. Imagine FIA gave an exception for Ferrari here? Merc would be losing their mind.

@laimis If it was Max instead of Carlos, I’d bet my entire net worth that they wouldn’t impose a penalty.

@aethertag They’ve made multiple decisions this year to not penalize a clear violation of regulations. Remember Max and others holding up traffic in the pit exit in qualifying? If Max had run over the manhole and had his car ruined, there is no way in hell he would get a 10 place grid penalty.
